achieved in the next decade.

At the close of the Dodge period it is possible to detect signs which
give an inkling of the campus life in the future: The atmosphere was
becoming more secular and interests of students both revealed and
created this change. They had a variety of outside connections and
found it relatively easy to get away from the campus. They delighted
to follow customs of other colleges and infused new vitality into their
own organizations and athletic programs. A different pattern of stu-
dent life was emerging.
